The Chi Chi chapter of Sigma Chi and its brothers strive to be leaders among their peers in all settings. We have proven ourselves capable in positions within the chapter, on campus, and in our Province. Now, we have extended our influence to the international level.

Consul Rob NeSmith '11 was elected the Undergraduate Representative to the Sigma Chi Executive Committee at Grand Council in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. The position was voted on by delegates of undergraduate and alumni provinces.

NeSmith, a rising senior history major from Oneonta, Alabama, now serves as one of two Undergraduate Representatives on the international fraternity's Executive Committee. Also elected was Blake Willoughby '11, Consul of the Lambda Lambda chapter at the University of Kentucky.

NeSmith will be the first member in Chi Chi's history to serve in this prestigious role. He also has served as Consul, House Manager and Social Chairman of our chapter.

He was first elected by the Alabama Northern Province at its annual meetings in Birmingham, Alabama on April 10th, 2010 to be its candidate for the position. From there, he was nominated by at least 12 undergraduate Consuls from across the continent.

The Undergraduate Representative joins the other members of the Executive Committee, including the current Grand Officers and other influential alumni, in making decisions that impact the entire community of Sigma Chi. NeSmith will serve as the voice of current undergraduate members and chapters on this body.

Alabama Northern Grand Praetor Michael Ciatto '08 (Omicron - Dickinson College) served as the Undergraduate Representative to the Sigma Chi Executive Committee for two terms from 2006-2008. This is what he had to say about his experience on the Executive Committee:

"Few opportunities exist for an 18-21 year old young man to serve on the Board of Directors of a multi-million dollar non-profit alongside CEOs, company presidents/chief-operators, bankers, lawyers, and other highly successful business leaders all working to map the future of an organization that impacts the lives of 230,000+ living members.  The Undergraduate Representative to the Sigma Chi Executive Committee is one such rare occasion."

The chapter congratulates our brother Rob NeSmith for this extraordinary accomplishment. We know that he will make the most of this opportunity to represent our chapter and chapters everywhere well on the Executive Committee.

In Hoc,
Wes George '11
